JOIN OUR REDISTRICTING CAMPAIGN!

Advocate to unite our local communities in order to build political power!

 What is Redistricting?

Redistricting is a political process that happens every 10 years, where the lines of political districts are redrawn to make each district even in number again. These districts are redrawn at the city, county, and state levels.

District lines are redrawn based on the Census and community input, however, the Census does not provide Arab communities with a way to truly be counted.

Why is Redistricting Important?

As one unified district, we could have the political power to elect representatives that reflect our community, implement our demands, and listen to us regardless of our citizenship status.

This means that we would have a say in the city budget, and be able to redirect crucial funds back into our community.

What can you do to get involved?

  1. Put yourself on the map! Fill out this form

Community mapping is huge for Arab communities, who don’t show up in the data - we can now show up in a big way through mapping ourselves.

  2. Submit a Testimony:

You can submit a Community of Interest testimony to the city, county, and state:

    City: Email to redistricting@elcajon.gov

    County: https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/redistricting/IRCecomment.html

    State: https://wedrawthelines.ca.gov/contact_public_comment/

  3. Attend a local Redistricting Hearing:

The next hearing is Wednesday, September 8, 6:30 p.m. at the
    Renette Recreation Center
    935 South Emerald Avenue
    El Cajon, CA 92020
